ROOMS AND SUITES: ELEGANCE AND PLEASURE
Sybille de Margerie has chosen to play on designs from the sixties and seventies in the rooms and suites, with wide stripes of sometimes vivid colour, explosions of flowers and large wicker chairs, a nod to femininity, with furniture by famous designers, from Florence Knoll to Vladimir Kagan, reinterpreting those famous decades.
A FEMININE TOUCH
Women feature heavily in some of the 52 rooms and 38 suites. Obviously, Brigitte Bardot is one of them. In the Dolce Vita suite, photographs signed in her own rounded handwriting recall the fabulous years the actress spent in Saint-Tropez with lover Roger Vadim. This homage to everlasting femininity also pays tribute to the great Ava Gardner and the flamboyant Rita Hayworth – two of Hollywood’s most emblematic stars.
COLOURS BORROWED FROM PAINTERS
Sybille Margerie has a special way of using colour. She blends light strokes into a camaieu, in the mosaics in the bathrooms for example, or uses it to emphasize the light from a bay window. This is her unique tribute to all the painters – Matisse, Bonnard and many others – who made Hotel de Paris-Saint-Tropez their home.
